DIRECTOR / VIDEOGRAPHER / ADVENTURER
BRADFORD SCHMIDT
Bradford's passion for visual storytelling and photography stemmed from his six year adventure exploring the globe after high school. In 2006, he was accepted into the prestigious UCLA Film Program, where he double majored in Directing and Screenwriting.
After graduating in 2009, Nicholas Woodman asked Bradford to create GoPro's Media Department. Bradford had first met GoPro founder and CEO Nick Woodman on a surfing trip in 2002, while riding on a wooden chicken ferry in Sumatra. The two bonded through their love of surfng, travel, and photography. Over the next seven years, Brad helped Nick develop what would become the GoPro by testing prototype mounts and cameras, and by filming marketing footage for trade shows. From 2009 to 2018, Bradford ran GoPro’s media department that grew from only himself to over two hundred employees and started a YouTube channel that would rise to become one of the most powerful content-driven brands online.
Won an Emmy for 'Best Small Camera' in 2014.
Shorty Award for 'Best Branded YouTube Channel' in 2015.
One of his proudest programs was GoPro for a Cause that created films and raised money for non-profits around the world. Etc. Etc.
Currently, Bradford works as a documentary and commercial filmmaker and a writer. He’s directed and shot commercial work for major international brands as well as live television and events.
The films he's made have won awards and amassed millions of views and the visual brand of GoPro he built as creative director is widely recognized around the globe.
