I’m a freelance writer and weekly newspaper columnist currently, though I have more than a few ex-this or ex-that titles in my resume. Like: recording engineer; design company founder and president; television director and studio manager; New Yorker (one I still regret being an ex of).
But now I write, and it’s the best gig of the bunch (as long as I don’t count finances among the judging criteria).
I’ve written extensively on music, print, and television; done restaurant, book and product reviews; done in-depth technology pieces; written band profiles for their press kits; provided commentary on politics. Also, in addition to my weekly newspaper column, The Mashup, I write feature stories for the paper, did the entire 2010 Taste magazine (an annual supplement to New Times), and spent a week running around South by Southwest in Austin, TX interviewing musicians and providing a stream of tweets and blog posts.
